End of an Era: Nintendo Discontinues New 3DS Repair Services

Nintendo has officially ended its repair services for the New Nintendo 3DS due to a shortage of necessary replacement parts. This announcement, made by Nintendo of Japan on August 28, 2024, marks the end of an era for a handheld console that had a significant impact on gaming.

The New Nintendo 3DS, along with other models in the 3DS family like the Nintendo 2DS, has been facing dwindling part supplies since production ceased in 2020. While this decision might be disappointing for those who still own and cherish their New 3DS, it’s a reminder of the natural life cycle of gaming hardware, especially as companies shift focus to newer platforms.

For now, only the Nintendo 2DS XL remains eligible for repairs, but given the current trends, it’s likely that service for that model will also end soon. The New 3DS had a memorable run, but with parts now unavailable, official repairs are no longer an option(
